It is officially summer, and glimpses of new fashion trends are on the horizon. The sun is shining, vacation mode is on, and all the bright, colorful fashion to strut through this electric sweet season is at our fingertips! For this Summer outfit of the day, we will be combining two colors together to create one fabulous outfit.
Let’s talk light! Duo-chrome is a color-shifting effect that transitions between different hues depending on the viewer’s perspective and the angle and direction of light. We are going to recreate this in fashion, true Duo-Chrome style! Here is my outfit formula!
Step 1: Choose 2 Fabulous Colors
For this look, we start by choosing two colors. They can be your favorite color and your second favorite color, your birthstone color and the shade of your favorite ice cream, the hue of the sky paired with the shade of your most-loved flower, or give yourself a fashion challenge and choose two colors you see in your closet that you don’t wear too often and want to give a spin!
May it be lavender purple and baby yellow, minty blue and light brown, rosy red and tangerine orange, or even hot pink and bright green! Enjoy it! Mix and Match.
Step 2: Pick a Base Piece in Your First Color
Choose which of your colors you would like to be the base of your entire outfit. This will be the color you begin with. For example, I chose green as my first color, so I focused on the green clothing items in my closet and settled on this darling maxi dress with a light stripe detailing in the fabric. Comfortable and cute! Perfect for some summer fun!
Step 3: Accessorize with Your Second Color
Next, we are going to be accessorizing to the max with the second color you selected! I went with pink (of course!). Start by laying out accessories in your color. See what works, what matches, what doesn’t match, and try stuff on. Putting an outfit together is a trial-and-error process! Don’t give up! You’re amazing!
Some accessory examples to look through for your outfit include necklaces, bracelets, earrings, shoes, hair clips, purses, socks, or sunglasses! A refined two-toned palette ensemble in the works!
Step 4: Final Touches for Your Color-Paired Look!
To add extra pizzazz to your duo-chromatic outfit, pay attention to detail! I paired my fashionista look with a phone case in the colors I chose. Hello pink and green stripes! To match your outfit, you can also paint your nails with your colors. This is dual-tone styling! I painted every other nail with pink and green nail polish! Think about possibilities based on the kind of accessory, texture, and pattern. Sparkle and shine!
