3 Things Every Dance Teacher Should Do Before the New Year

The holiday season is a great time to relax and celebrate the things in your life that bring you joy, but as a new year approaches, it is also a time to put things in motion to be more productive and successful than ever. As a teacher, a lot of your productivity is also based on interacting with your students, so getting things organized and planned now is even more important!

Clean the Studio

Getting your studio sparkling before you leave for the holidays is a great way to ensure that you’ll return to a place where you can be functional and productive. It’s the perfect time to get organized and tackle anything you’ve been putting off. Plus, if you get most of your cleaning done now, you’ll have a lot less to worry about when spring cleaning season rolls around.

Check in with Your Seniors

Before your older students graduate this summer, check in with them about their plans after they graduate. Ask them about what they are thinking about currently, their options, and ways they might want or need you to be involved over the next few months. You’ll have less to do at the end of the school year if you know who needs recommendation letters and advice now.

Register for Competitions

While your dancers are singing Christmas carols and heading out the door for winter break, make sure you know where you’re going to compete once competition season starts, and if you can, get all your registration to-dos done early. Showstopper’s registration is already open, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on your favorite location because registration is full (San Mateo and Worcester are already sold out!).
