In 2022, Bey shared that Renaissance was the first of a three-act project, and it looks like Act II will be taking her on a country-rock journey that we’ve only gotten a glimpse of.
After the announcement, two singles, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES” started streaming, and while the more emotionally-driven and reflective “16 CARRIAGES” has a soft country sound, the heavy banjo-plucking “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” has quickly grabbed the attention of the internet. From country fans who are finding their place in Beyoncé’s discography to the loyal Beyhive finding that maybe country music is their thing too, the Beyoncé effect has taken hold.
