The Broadway League extended their shutdown until June 2021, leaving theater fans to keep looking for virtual alternatives to their favorite musicals and plays and artists to find new ways to connect with them. It’s a terrifying announcement, but alongside it comes a more welcome spooky surprise from Broadway.

Broadway talent Rafael Casal (Blindspotting, Bad Education), Adrienne Warren (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Shuffle Along, Bring It On: The Musical), James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin, Hamilton, Memphis), Danny Burstein (Moulin Rouge!, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof), Nik Walker (Ain’t Too Proud, Hamilton, Motown The Musical), Lesli Margherita (Dames at Sea, Matilda, EmojiLand), Rob McClure (Chaplin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Beetlejuice) and more are bringing a Tim Burton classic to life via a one-night-only musical event. A concert presentation of The Nightmare Before Christmas, the stream will not only serve as a spooky event for theater fans. It is also a benefit for The Actors Fund and the Lymphoma Research Foundation.

In a press release, James Monroe Iglehart who will be playing Oogie Boogie said, “We are extremely grateful to Tim Burton, Danny Elfman and the Disney Music Group for allowing us the opportunity to bring our virtual concert interpretation of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas to everyone this Halloween.”

This “terrifyingly tantalizing way to celebrate Halloween” will be available to stream for 24 hours, beginning Saturday, October 31 at 7 pm ET. Tickets are pay-per-view and $4.99. Viewers are encouraged to make additional donations to the organizations at actorsfund.org/Nightmare.
