Actress Caitlin Carmichael is known for her roles on Chicken Girls and Doc McStuffins, but more recently, she’s taken on a role that’s a lot more action-packed. She is now the face behind the dirt and armor of Princess Gretta in BYUtv’s latest series, Dwight in Shining Armor.
Caitlin plays a modern version of Sleeping Beauty. Gretta is a warrior princess that has been asleep for 1,000 years, and when a fall through a hidden floor and an accidental kiss awaken her, awkward teenager Dwight (Sloane Siegel) is bound to protect her from all of the ancient enemies that have awoken with her.
Of course, it’s not all sword-fighting and abandoned buildings. Gretta’s introduction to the 21st century, school, and more will lead to hilarious hijinks. Gretta can protect herself from sword-wielding bad guys, but Dwight will have to help her navigate being a “normal” teenager in the modern world.
“She’s ready to battle at all times,” Caitlin told us about her character. And, based on the two trailers that are currently out, it seems like that’s true. Even when she’s rocking headphones and jamming out to music, Gretta has her sword by her side. How she gets that sword into an American high school, we have yet to find out.
To prepare for her role, Caitlin has been doing stunt training and training with a broadsword, so she can do all of Gretta’s stunts herself. Like her character, Caitlin isn’t afraid to dive in and get her hands dirty.
