Today, Taylor Swift released “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” her latest rerecorded single. The track off of Taylor’s 1989 album was announced by Taylor after Jenny Han (author of The Summer I Turned Pretty and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) teased fans about including a Taylor Swift song in the forthcoming The Summer I Turned Pretty Prime Video series.
Once the news was out, it wasn’t long before the internet exploded with theories and excitement. The single appeared on Taylor’s website along with “Old Taylor” merch for 1989 and Speak Now neither of which have been re-released as “Taylor’s Version” albums yet.
“This Love (Taylor’s Version)” features the sharper and more vocal-forward sound that, along with Taylor’s deeper and more mature singing voice, made Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) feel so full. The single is also the second 1989 song re-record that Taylor has released. She shared “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” last year.
Of course, the release has Swifties speculating about 1989 (Taylor’s Version) being Taylor’s next album drop, but they’ve been wrong before. Last year, when fans seemed sure that a new 1989 was on its way Taylor released Red (Taylor’s Version).
That being said, it’s still a little suspicious that she announced the song on May 5 which also happens to be the first day of the 1989 World Tour in 2015. Right? We’re excited for whatever Taylor decides to release no matter when she decides to share it, but we’re dying for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and we just can’t shake it off.
