Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Cassie Marin’s latest single, “Push Me,” is out on all streaming platforms today.
Her second single of the year since she released “Every Time I See the Ocean” in January, “Push Me” is a bouncy electro-pop song with a deeper meaning about standing up for yourself and celebrating who you are.
“I’m gonna put on my favorite shoes and forget who I am today,” Cassie sings in the first verse. “It’s my time cause I say so.” Inspired by Cassie’s experiences with being judged and held back from her true self, “Push Me” is a solid “no” to anyone who would ask her to change.
“I was surrounding myself with friendships that weren’t allowing me to express the full essence of who I am, and I felt like I was constantly being asked to change who I was in order to make others more comfortable,” Cassie said about her inspiration. “‘Push Me’ became my medicinal message and constant reminder that the more I welcome every unique part of myself, the more complete I will feel all on my own.”
“Push Me” is another glimpse into her debut album set to come out this year. It joins her previous singles “Tanto,” “Busy Body,” and “Every Time I See the Ocean” in the album’s growing tracklist full of songs with an aim to embrace what makes her unique and empowers her sense of self, and she wants that for her fans too.
“I started pursuing music as a career because of what music did and still does for me; it saves me every day,” she said. “I want my music to be there for anyone and everyone who needs it the way that music was there for me.”
