Alexandra Palmer is a seventeen-year-old dancer from Evergreen, Colorado. She dances at Shelly True Dance Academy.

“I find it very fulfilling to help others find a love for dance as well as seeing the impact that it has on the people watching.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has had a positive impact on my life since I was 2. Dance made me comfortable speaking and presenting to others. I used to have severe stage fright; I wouldn’t present in school or talk to adults. Dance made me love performing. The studio is also where I’ve met my closest friends. It is truly a community, and I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else in life. Dance is my outlet for almost everything, it shaped me to be the person I am today.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive influence on your community?

I want to use dance to make a positive influence on my community by inspiring others to step out of their comfort zone. I enjoy participating in dance but also in teaching others. I teach at my studio about 4 hours a week. In my community, I have also choreographed for multiple middle school musicals of over 100 kids. I find it very fulfilling to help others find a love for dance as well as seeing the impact that has on the people watching.
