Do you have a school dance coming up? Or maybe an event that you want to confidently try wearing your first pair of heels for?
Learning to walk in heels can be tough. You want to look as if you were born in them, but it doesn’t always work out that way. I mean it’s basically being on releve for an extended period of time ( Ouch ).
Heels really aren’t my thing, buttttt I do have days when I want to look like a grown-up and strut my stuff in some super cute stilettos. Having confidence is a major key in mastering Heels. Here are some tips that I have picked up along the way to ease to ease the pain and have you walking just like Kendall K in NY Fashion Week.
- Mastering the walk is all about catching your rhythm. You never want to trot around so make sure your strides are smooth and graceful.
- Bent Knees are a NO NO, so check your posture. If you really want to make it perfect, out a book on your head and try to keep it balanced.
- Make sure your shoulders are back, head is straight and your confidence is on point.
Fighting the pain
- Not all heels are painful, but sometimes they can be. If the heels you’re wearing are closed toe, a trick i’ve learned is to tape the two toes beside your big toes of each foot together. It temporarily eases the pain. Just make sure you take it off after 30-45 minutes so you don’t cut off circulation.
- Insoles are super comfortable. All you do is slip them inside your heels and problem solved. If you are wearing an opened toed style don’t worry. Just buy a cheap pair of insoles and cut off any fabric that hangs over or outside of the shoe.
- Prepare your feet. If you’ve never worn heels before make sure you do some things around the house in them the day before. This helps to break in the shoe, and also helps you get in some walking practice.
Use these simple tips and you’ll be a strutting like a runway model in no time!
