Sarah Lei Lumauag is a seventeen-year-old dancer from Pearl City, Hawaii. She dances at Dana’s Dance Unlimited.

“Not only do I want to share my passion of dance, I also want others to continue the chain of giving back and sharing their love.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has given me the freedom to express my emotions through movement. Without dancing, I wouldn’t have learned the importance of time management and I wouldn’t have had the honor to graduate high school as Valedictorian. Because I dance seven days a week, dance has kept me out of trouble and kept me from taking the wrong turn in life. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic occurring during my senior year of high school, many things and events have been taken away from me. Dance has reminded me to be the beacon of light in a world filled with darkness.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive influence on your community?

I strive to be a positive role model to the younger dancers and show them that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. In addition to my assisting classes, I am also an assistant to the Heart and Soul Special Needs class. I enjoy dancing with them every week and always putting a smile on their face. Not only do I want to share my passion of dance I also want others to continue the chain of giving back and sharing their love.
