Summer always sounds fun at first. The school year draws to a close, and we’re all yearning for pool days, beach trips, iced drinks, sunset walks, dance camps, vacations, and staying out way too late with your friends. But once that heat hits, it can start to feel exhausting, especially if you are a dancer who is constantly on the go from practice to rehearsal all day long. The good news? Staying cool during the summer doesn’t have to mean sitting inside all day next to a fan.
Carry Around a “Cool Girl” Water Bottle
You’ve heard it a million times: “It is important to stay hydrated.” It’s true! But nobody said it had to be boring. Carrying around a cool water bottle can make staying hydrated throughout the day more fun (and easier to remember). Being in the heat all day can make you feel dehydrated. If you’re dancing, working, spending time outside, or even just hanging out with your friends, staying hydrated helps your energy levels, skin, and overall mood so much during the summer heat. If water starts to feel a little boring, don’t worry. There are ways to spice it up. You can add fruit and flavored electrolyte packages, and keep ice in it at all times.
Wear Light and Breathable Clothes
We all love a matching sweat-set moment. However, maybe it is time to switch that out for a bit. Wearing lighter and flowy fabrics can seriously help you feel less overheated throughout the day. Tank tops, light and flowy tops, linen pants, and lightweight workout sets are all great options. Staying cool in your clothes is a must, especially when you are working hard in the dance studio.
Find Fun Ways to Cool Off With Friends
Sometimes, trying to make a fun time out of beating the heat is better than hiding inside to escape it. So grab some friends and cool down! Go for a late-night swim, get ice cream, play in a sprinkler, or have water balloon fight! Summer is all about creating fun memories.
