A project that has been in the works since around the time Wonder Woman was released, Kim Possible’s return to Disney Channel is something kids and adults are getting excited about. It has been 12 years since we last saw Kim fighting crime and hanging out at Bueno Nacho with Ron Stoppable and his naked mole rat Rufus.

Now, the latest Disney Channel star, Sadie Stanley is taking on the role of Kim Possible in the first live-action portrayal of her high school experience. In an interview with Post and Courier, Sadie spoke about how she got her understanding of Kim watching as many of the episodes of the cartoon as she could. “I didn’t want to stray from the original show too much, but I also didn’t want to be a carbon copy of the cartoon,” she said.

And the new Kim Possible is definitely not a carbon copy of her formerly 2D self. Instead of cheering, Kim plays soccer now, and she has some new looks for fighting crime and going to school. Oh, and the crime fighters in this movie? With the help of stunt coordinator Melissa R. Stubbs, they looked to martial arts to choreograph some of their fighting.

Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle, the creators of the original series, returned to make Kim Possible this generation’s favorite teen hero as much as she was the last ones. We’ll finally be able to see who Kim has become since her hiatus after the early 2000s tonight at 8:00PM EST on Disney Channel.
