Dance competitions might be few and far between in our actual lives, but they are alive and well in our favorite movies. In fact, they are full of all the drama, struggles, intense preparation we know and love in new movies, too. We won’t see So You Think You Can Dance on stage this summer, but we will see Liza Koshy and Sabrina Carpenter bringing their moves to the stage as the underdog competitors in a high school dance competition in Netflix’s new movie Work It.
Quinn (Sabrina Carpenter) wants to get her to fill out her extra-curricular activities in time to make a big impression on her college applications. Her high school, Woodbright High, is known for its incredible dance team, and she knows joining the team will boost her chances of getting into her dream school. The only problem is…she can’t dance, like at all. Quinn turns to her friend and dance team member Jas (Liza Koshy) to help her get on the dance team. Unfortunately, Quinn’s audition is a flop and she and Jas are left to construct their own misfit dance team with their classmates.
What originally started as a clever plan to boost her resume starts to turn into something more like passion as Quinn and Jas’s team gets ready to compete in a major competition and prove that their team has what it takes. We can’t wait to see the film and even learn some of their moves! Luckily, we don’t have to wait long. Work It comes to Netflix on August 7!
