The 2025 Tony Nominees are In!

By Veronica Good

May 01, 2025

Sarah Paulson and Wendell Pierce presented the 2025 Tony Nominations on May 1. With an exciting number of ties for most nominated— Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending all tied for most nominated with 10 each—the outcome of this season’s awards will have us on the edge of our seats. While predicting this year’s winners will be difficult, we know that this list is a great way to plan your summer trips to Broadway shows and which tours you want to bookmark for the future.

Along with the category nominations, this year, The Tony Awards will also recognize excellence with special Tonys. The musicians who make up the band from Buena Vista Social Club and the Illusions & Technical Effects of Stranger Things: The First Shadow will each be awarded a Tony. Harvey Fierstein will receive the Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre Award, and Celia Keenan-Bolger will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award. The 2025 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will be presented to PBS’ Great Performances, Michael Price (Goodspeed), the nonprofit New 42, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

The 78th Annual Tony Awards will return to the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City next month. Hosted by Tony, Emmy, and GRAMMY Award-winner and three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo, The American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards will broadcast LIVE to both coasts on Sunday, June 8, 2025 (8:00 – 11:00 PM ET/5:00 – 8:00 PM PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.
