On August 11, 2019, the Teen Choice Awards will give out the first-ever Icon Award. The award isn’t going to just anyone. In fact, the winner has received 26 Teen Choice Awards (that’s a lot of surfboards) over the course of her career. That’s more than any other solo artists in TCA history if you’re keeping track.

That person is none other than Taylor Swift.

In a statement about the new award, Fox said the following about Taylor Swift and how she represents what it means to be an icon in the context of the award:

“As one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with more than 50 million albums sold, Taylor Swift is a pop culture icon whose accolades and achievements go beyond topping music charts and selling out stadiums worldwide. Swift is also one of today’s biggest social influencers, using her voice and platform to inspire and create positive change.

This isn’t the only big thing happening for Taylor in August, less than two weeks after she receives the Icon Award at the Teen Choice Awards, her seventh studio album, Lover, will hit stores and streaming services everywhere. She’s also a major feature in the upcoming film of the musical Cats this December. From album releases and Prime Day concerts to TCAs and movies, Taylor certainly seems to have been having an amazing year.
