If you thought Toy Story 3 marked the end of the line for Woody, Buzz, and all of our other favorite toys, you’re in for a surprise. This morning Pixar released a teaser for what will certainly be next summer’s biggest hit, Toy Story 4.
In the trailer, we are reunited with all of the iconic characters from the series’ previous movies as they frolic in a circle. Unfortunately, the introduction of a surprising new character interrupts this nostalgic moment and everyone falls. But, we’re more intrigued than ever to find out Forky’s story after all the commotion he caused.

You might notice Forky doesn’t look like your average toy, and he isn’t. In a statement with Entertainment Weekly, director Josh Cooley commented on Forky’s existence, “The world of Toy Story is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose. A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects? Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis. He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork, but now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him.”
So, now we know that the toys in Toy Story aren’t limited to the manufactured friends we find in stores. Craft projects can come to life, too! We’ll have to wait until June 2019 to find out what else can come to life to be a child’s friend.
