The 2022 Billboard Music Awards took place on Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Ahead of the weekend, The Weeknd and Doja Cat lead the nominees. The Weeknd had 17 nominations and Doja had 14. The top winners of the night was Olivia Rodrigo with seven wins including Top New Artist, Top Female Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album.
Drake, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber, the artists with the most career BBMAs held their top three spots with their wins. Drake won five BBMAs, Taylor won four, and Justin won five putting the artists at 34, 29, and 26 wins respectively.
This year’s awards also included new categories. Top Billboard Global 200 and Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) were added to the Artist and Song awards. Olivia Rodrigo took home the Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, and Ed Sheeran won Top Billboard Globa (Excl. U.S.). The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber took home both of the global song awards for their song “Stay.”
