Carly Gallivan is a sixteen-year-old dancer from West Dover, Vermont. She dances at Kelly’s Dance Academy.

“I know that dancing has made me into my best self, and I am so grateful for everything and everyone involved in my dance career.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has and continues to be one of the largest positive impacts in my life. I know that whenever I’m having a hard day I can let go of my problems and just dance. Dancing has allowed me to push through hard times and made me able to smile even on the darkest days. I know that dancing has made me into my best self and I am so grateful for everything and everyone involved in my dance career.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive influence on your community?

Dance is such a positive art and sport and is not always valued to its fullest potential in most communities. In my community, specifically, I want dance, along with all the arts, to be appreciated more than they are today. I believe I can make this positive change by continuing to inspiring younger children. As a role model to so many in my small town, I continue to push my self to be a better dancer every single day. I push myself outside of my comfort zone and explore the world of dance even if it’s new and different. I know that these efforts I put into dance will inspire the children who look up to me and will make the dance community grow in a beneficial way in the future.
