“I would love to continue to use my dancing as a positive impact…I would love to continue to travel across North Carolina and showcas[e] what I have learned in the past 16 years, and just bring a smile to someone’s face.”

Tell us about your dance experience!

I have been dancing since the age of 2. I have been a competition dancer since the age of 5. I have been at my studio for 16 years and sadly will be graduating this year. I don’t know how I am going to adjust to not being able to compete anymore and the fun of being on stage with my groups but I know that God has plans for me and I would definitely love to apply to be a teacher at my dance studio . My teachers have not only been my teachers and mentors but also my best friends and my family. My peers are not just girls I dance with they are my sisters and my friends.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has impacted my life so much whether I am having a crappy day at school I have dance if I feel misunderstood at home I have dance when you feel like you love somebody and you lose that first love and you feel like locking yourself in a room I had dance when I lost my grandmother. All the emotions were too much for me, but I had dance. Dance is a constant in my life, and I can say the one thing that will never let me down.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I would love to continue to use my dancing as a positive impact on my community by teaching the younger generation, especially the non competitive dancers the art of dance technique, and love and to get them prepared and ready for the competitive world. I would love to continue to travel across North Carolina and showcasing what I have learned in the past 16 years, and just bring a smile to someone’s face
