Loriana Walter is a twelve-year-old dancer from Cheyenne, Wyoming. She dances at Act Two Studios.

“Dance has taught me about perseverance, commitment, and dedication. It’s not always easy, but I know my team is counting on me.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has taught me about perseverance, commitment, and dedication. It’s not always easy, but I know my team is counting on me. In fact, I have a medal rack that says, “Believe you can, then you will,” which is a quote that inspires me when I am struggling with a new move.

My teammates are like a second family. My closest dance friends and I all have matching signs that read, “Not sisters by blood, but sisters by heart.” Dance is our heart. It is a passion we all share, and it brings us together.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive influence on your community?

While competitions are really important to me, I know that winning isn’t everything. I try my best whenever I am performing — whether it be at a competition, recital, or community performance. I also try to be a supportive teammate and a good role model, especially for the younger dancers. I try really hard to be kind to everyone and make sure other members of my team don’t feel left out. We spend a lot of time together at the studio, so I do everything I can to let my dance family know how much I care about them.
