Watching Dancing with the Stars as a dancer can make the experience even more magical. The choreography and talented dancers and their star partners provide so much inspiration for your own dancing. After just two episodes, Season 33 is a perfect example of what DWTS has to offer viewers who are invested in more than reality television.

Unique Choreography

DWTS is known for eye-catching and dazzling performances. Each routine is a combination of dance, live music, and careful staging and costuming, but the choreography is what we all have our eyes on. From salsa to contemporary, each themed night is a feast of ballroom styles. Watching these dances can inspire new routines and moves to try while recognizing the hard work that goes into creating each dance with just a week of rehearsal time.

After each episode, create a choreography challenge with your friends! Each person should pick a routine and try to recreate it either on their own or with a partner.

Themed Nights

Each episode of DWTS is centered on a theme that influences the song choices, costumes, and choreography each couple performs. From Disney Night to Halloween Night, these themes turn each dance into a storytelling moment. This adds fun to the dances.

Plus, this gives us a theme for each week’s watch party. Invite your friends over and encourage them to bring snacks or dress up to match the theme.

Learn Something New

There is so much to watch in one episode. If you pay close attention, you can pick up new turn sequences, footwork, and technical tips. Watching the pros dance and listening to the judges’ feedback is a small way to improve your dancing while having fun.

Apply the things you see and challenge your friends! After each episode, try something new you learned or apply a piece of advice from the judges. You can even partner up to try new ballroom steps that require two people. It may seem small and silly, but it is good to always be learning.

Take a Break

One of the best reasons to watch DWTS is to take a break. As dancers, we are constantly pushing our bodies and minds to the limit. This is tiring! Taking time to wind down is just as important as the time spent putting in effort at the studio. You can’t dance if you don’t take care of yourself. So, have a fun night with friends to chill and enjoy the show!
