Studying doesn’t always mean just sitting in your room at your desk by yourself. It can actually be beneficial to change up your study spot. Changing your environment can boost your focus and help to make school seem less overwhelming. As a dancer, you already know the benefits of switching up your environment. The studio feels different than the stage, and rehearsals feel different than performing. The same applies to studying.
Your Local Coffee Shop
What makes for a better combination than your favorite drink (or a new one) and some homework in the fall? Pack up your backpack and head to your local coffee shop for a peaceful study session. Order your go-to drink and maybe a pastry or other sweet treat to go with it. Grab a corner table, or whatever feels comfortable to you, and get to work! Chances are, other people will also be working here. Their productivity can be motivating!
The Library
This stays a classic throughout time for a reason! The library is peaceful, has like-minded individuals, and is a comfortable place to get work done. You can focus on work without pressure to socialize or be cool. Plus, libraries are designed for the comfort of academics and usually have comfortable chairs or couches. If you feel like you need a break, you can browse the stacks for inspiration.
The Studio Lobby (Between Classes)
If you have time in between classes, you might as well be productive. Breaks between class and rehearsal can be the perfect amount of time to knock out an assignment or two. This way, you can stay productive without having to wait to be at home, and you can get your homework done in a familiar place.
Getting Outside
A cool fall breeze sets the perfect tone for an energized homework mindset. Spread out a blanket in your backyard or at your local park, put on a cozy fit, and get to work. The sunlight and open space can have you feeling refreshed and inspired. It can be a good break from staring at a screen indoors all day.
School Study Spaces
It can be easy to overlook the study spaces your school provides because you are used to spending hours there each day. Empty classrooms, student lounge, and quiet corners can give you a chance to get some work done before you go home for the day. Getting things done while at school can help you free up time for no-stress evenings.
