We are just a few weeks away from Olivia Rodrigo’s third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. While Olivia has been rolling out a whole new album aesthetic, we’ve been taking notes. Incorporating the color palette and textures of this era seems easy enough, especially when Olivia’s new brand fits so well with the fashion trends that have been emerging over the last couple of years.

But what about dance costumes? Digging into the costumes that have crossed the Showstopper stage during the 2026 Regional Competition Tour has given us so much Olivia-coded inspiration.

Light Pink Looks

Purple is Olivia’s signature color, but the singer has been moving toward pastels, especially light pink. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Olivia commented on what seems to be the signature color of her album, saying it reminds her of “love and infatuation and like joy and fun.” We are in love with the delicacy of this color and how it makes a costume pop.

Skirts with Movement

One change we’ve noticed in Olivia’s new look is an emphasis on drape and movement. A dance costume with a good swish (that is the technical term) is perfect for embodying the light, carefree feeling we’re expecting from you seem so sad for a girl so in love. This is a great opportunity for playing with fabric weight and drape or adding artful ruffles!

A Love for Lace

Lace textures are in, and Olivia is taking full advantage of the trend. Finding the fine line between the delicacy of lace and the rock and roll edginess lace details can provide makes this a versatile fabric for dance costumes. We love that the right lace look can create a look that is emphasizes power but shows off movement.

Pastel Vibes

Light pink isn’t the only color Olivia is loving. Pastels of all kinds are sneaking into her public appearances and performances. Seafoam greens, sky blues, and lavenders all make sense for this era. Match the color with a silhouette that feels perfect for running through the halls of Versailles or jamming out in your room, and you’re ready to go.
