Baylee Makarczyk is a 14-year-old dancer from Pennsylvania. She dances at Tracey’s Academy of Dance.

Tell us about your dance experience!

I have been competing since I was 7 years old. My first love has always been musical theater, but [I] was exposed to hip hop and love it. I dance in all different genres. I get to tell a story with each one. It’s how I express my feelings

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Absolutely, dance has taught me discipline and teamwork. I had my grandmother and father pass away this year and dance was an outlet for me to express my feelings. My studio is my family.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

When I am older, I want to be able to come back to my hometown and guide, teach, and motivate the younger generations. I also want to encourage more special needs programs and how dance influences. My brother is autistic and thrives in singing and dancing. It’s also has had a great impact on his life just by being in the Dance community.
