Dominic Keider is an 18-year-old dancer from North Carolina. He dances at Dancers Edge.

“I am so grateful to be a part of the dance community because the beauty of dance is that no matter where we come from, what language we speak, or how we look, dance unites us all.”

Tell us about your dance experience!

For the past four years, I have taken yearly dance classes at my high school along with participating in the Fall and Spring dance concerts. I am a teaching assistant and choreographer for my high school’s dance classes and I am a dance assistant to the choreographers at Luna Dance Convention. I have taken classes and learned from top choreographers in the dance industry in the studio, at conventions, and master classes, and one-on-one training. I have been choreographing and mixing music for dances the past five years and my life would not feel complete without dance, art, and music.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

The amount of impact dance has on my life is monumental both physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is one of my greatest passions and what I truly love. Dance has always been there to turn to when I needed it most. I feel dance entertains and translates art into a moving story that people can comprehend and understand. I am so grateful to be a part of the dance community because the beauty of dance is that no matter where we come from, what language we speak, or how we look, dance unites us all.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I want to show you can achieve anything with hard work and a dream. Millions of opportunities are waiting to be fulfilled. My career goals are becoming a commercial dancer and choreographer in Los Angeles. This would provide me with a chance to teach and change lives of the aspiring artists of the current and next generation. I hope to leave the North Carolina dance community with my own personal style that influences each student after me in some way. I would like to use performing arts for community outreach to uplift peoples’ spirits and brighten their day.
