“[dance] allows me to meet many new people and for friendships I wouldn’t be able to otherwise…It has taught me a great deal and it has created a community for me.”

Tell us about your dance experience!

I love all styles of dance. Although, lyrical is my favorite. I have been a part of my studio classes for nine years and currently take ballet, pointe, acrobatics, tap, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, and hip hop. I also really enjoy taking classes at conventions and through travel.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

I don’t love to talk about my feelings, but dance allows me to express my emotions. It also allows me to meet many new people and for friendships, I wouldn’t be able to otherwise. Dance has taught me to value a good work ethic.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I want people to know that dance is not just a hobby. It has taught me a great deal, and it has created a community for me. I have shown people through organizing volunteers to serve meals at a local hospital family house from the dance school that dancers can use their community for good.
