Tell us about your dance experience!

I have been dancing since I was 2 years old. I loved being on stage and wanting to be like all the older girls. I started competing at age 6 or 7 years old, and I have been dedicated and loving it ever since. I have been dancing jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, tap, and acro. This year I won two titles for my solo at regional competitions, and our group dances have won many awards and firsts overall. I train five days a week with also doing conventions and college combines

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

The impact dance has had on my life starts with my dance studio and my dance family. I continue to push myself to be better for myself, and I always have the support of my parents and my dance family. Without the studio and my friends, I wouldn’t be who I am today. From my teachers to the best friends I have made over the years, we have shared so many things together. I have definitely made friendships that will last a lifetime. My teachers always pushed me to be the best part of myself in such a positive way. These are lessons that I will always remember and cherish. I’m so grateful I was given the chance to be part of something that I will look back on and have such great memories. I love them all so much.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I am also a teacher assistant in the classroom. I help with the younger kids in dance classes. I hope the one thing that I have done is made a positive impact on someone’s dance journey. I hope I that I can inspire kids the way the older girls did when I was younger. If I can help give a child something positive to look towards, I want to be that kind of inspiration.
