Tell us about your dance experience!
I have been dancing for four years total. I am currently starting my fifth year of dance. I have only danced on the competitive team for one full year, starting my second year on the team. I am truly blessed and honored to be on a team with such talent. I will continue to dance until I graduate High school.
How does dance have a positive impact on your life?
My dance impacts me in so many ways. Dancing shows me how to be more independent and keep me on my toes with my schoolwork. At Creative Dance Studio, we do Big Sis and Little Sis. This year is my first year to ever be a Big Sister. This opportunity allows me to make a positive impact on my little sis to encourage her and show her the proper techniques that I have learned as well as help her during competitions and conventions. I also learn how to balance my schoolwork and my dance schedule. Dancing makes me feel part of a whole family and not just an individual. When I hear my dance family cheering me on, I know that they are there for me when I need them and can rely on them to help me make a more positive impact in my community, school, and life in the future.
How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?
I want to use my dance to positively impact my community [through] Dancers Against Cancer and to help show everyone that, even with a little prayer and dance, you can do anything in your life that you put your mind to. Dance has shown me this and I am excited to share and grow my journey with a positive impact with my Creative Dance Studio Family.
