Tell us about your dance experience!

I started dancing at age 2 and danced for 2 years but didn’t want to anymore. I stopped but my sister continued. I played soccer and basketball when I was little, and after attending my sister’s dance recital when I was 5, I decided I wanted to dance again so in first grade, I started back. I joined a competitive team in fifth grade, and I have spent all of my time trying to be the best dancer I can be.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance makes me happy in every way. My studio is like a second home. It’s where I get to spend time with my closest friends. I love all of my teachers and it has a feeling of being “home.” Sometimes when the school day is long and hard, you can get to the studio and feel comforted that you are doing something that you love. My team is great and I love each and every one of them and the support they show me.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

Dance is a sisterhood and I love being one of the senior dancers and looking out for the “littles” as the older girls did at one time for me. Being a positive influence in their life is important as I know what that meant to me! I am also using dance as an out-reach to the community by being involved in the Chiles dance Marathon which raises money for the Miracle Network. Everyone knows that I am a dancer so this has helped me network!
