Patience Hughes is an 11-year-old dancer from Arizona. She dances at Club Dance.

“I think if people paid attention to the dance community more and really take part in all the wonderful opportunities it had to offer, we might see more love and less hate. That’s my hope at least!”

Tell us about your dance experience!

I’ve been dancing since I was 1 and a half years old and competing since I was 4. I love everything about dance and I train in all styles. I am a Lacey Schwimmer Killer B and I train approximately 30 hours a week. When I’m not at Club, I’m training with my ballroom partner in San Diego at DSpace Academy.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance allows me to be me. It’s my everything. When I’m not dancing, I’m thinking about dance. Dancing simply makes me happy.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I want the community to know that dance is for everyone. It’s all-inclusive. Dance brings people from all backgrounds together. There’s so much stress and violence in today’s world. I think if people paid attention to the dance community more and really take part in all the wonderful opportunities it had to offer, we might see more love and less hate. That’s my hope at least!
