“Dance helps me in so many ways. It has molded me, shaped me, taught me, grounded me, and had brought out the best in me. It has changed me for the better, it has made me see the world around me much clearer.”
Tell us about your dance experience!
I have been dancing since I was 18 months old. I am a company dancer, and I have been dancing for 11 years. I enjoy tap, jazz, and lyrical but my fav dance is musical theater. I enjoy competing and going to conventions to learn different genres of dance. I love cheering on my friends and I love meeting new people. Dance is my passion, and I love being able to represent myself on and off the dance floor. I enjoy the bright lights the make up the applause from my mom and friends. Dance has helped me overcome a lot in my life, and dance has made me the person I see every day.
How does dance have a positive impact on your life?
Dance helps me in so many ways. It has molded me, shaped me, taught me, grounded me, and had brought out the best in me. It has changed me for the better. It has made me see the world around me much clearer. Dance isn’t just a sport to me. It’s my passion. It’s my love. It’s my life.
How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?
I want people to open their eyes and listen with their hearts to have an understanding of Dance. I like to put my artwork on the dance floor. I want people to see me. When I dance, I watch my every move like telling a story. I want them to engage in my story. My solo last year was a story about how my dad left me and how dancing helped me get through every turning point in my life. It was a story that I told to everyone to have them understand and that I was proud of it took me a lot of courage to do that but I did and it made me proud that’s what I want dance to do for others. Be your own storyteller and let the world know.
