Flowers blooming, pirouettes, and grand jetes! Welcome warm weather with dance and fashion. We’re officially hopping into spring (or maybe fouetté-ing into spring). The sun is out and Vogue says “A colorful outfit is a certified way to leave those winter blues behind…” The spring forecast calls for new fashion trends. Starting the season with a spotlight on pastel colors, fashion layers, and spring style details.

“Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.”

Walter Hagen

Glistening under the studio lights, dance fashion just got even more fabulous. It is time to celebrate all things spring, including fashion! Here are some of my favorite ways to style my dancewear for spring.

Spring into Color

Add a splash of spring to your dance wardrobe with lovely pastel shades. Current fave. A sweetened color palette I love, spring was also reflected on the runway this season. Pastel and pale hues appeared to be a big trend in 2023 Spring Couture at Paris Fashion Week. The color lavender could be spotted in the Chanel Couture show, the Fendi runway featured baby blue fabrics, and delicate lemon hues lit up the Jean Paul Gaultier Couture show. Pastel fashion is the moment for spring!

“Spring is Nature’s way of saying, “’Let’s Party!’”

Robin Williams

A spring essential style essential that is totally danceable, pastels are easy to incorporate into looks in and out of the studio. From rainbow ombre ballet skirts to pastel leotards, style your fashionable dancewear with a little extra shine and joy! Pastel hues radiate happy vibes. This is fashion in color!

Layer Up

Of spring 2023’s top wardrobe trends, Vogue says, “Layering essentials that can easily be added in and out of an outfit are also equally important…” I love to add cute cardigans, knitted shrugs, or maybe a versatile fitted sweater as an extra fun layer over a classic leotard look. Transitional, light fashion? Let’s dance!

Layers are also great for warming up before dance class. Create a unique spring-style twist on your routine dance outfit.

Accessorize

With fresh fits for the season, add details to your dance looks that are oh so you. Your style is irreplaceable. Show it off! Add accessories or try out new dance hairstyles for the season. Don’t be afraid to let your fashion bloom.

“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light.”

Theodore Roethke

I styled my spring dance with a sweet flower hair clip next to my bun. I paired this looks with clip-on earrings of the Eiffel Tower (Paris is magical in the springtime!). The finishing touch is an Orange Lily shine spring lipstick color. Add your favorite spring details and outfit accents. Once you have the look, all that’s left to do is waltz across the studio with that fresh spring energy!

“Every flower blooms in its own time.”

Ken P.

Happiness beautifully blooms from within! Dance fashionably all season long, and keep smiling and pirouetting for sunny days ahead.
