The holidays aren’t just about sparkly lights, hot chocolate, and cozy pajamas—though those are totally part of the fun! It is a season to give back to those around you and in your community who might be less fortunate this time of year. As dancers, you already pour your heart and energy into everything you do. Now it’s time to channel some of that energy into holiday magic.
You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to bring joy to someone in your community. Something as simple as donating your time or making a card can make a difference. You’ll be surprised by how much joy giving back can bring you.
Host a Holiday Dance Showcase for Charity
Raise money by doing what you love the most! Put together a small performance for friends and family to see. You can collect donations and use the ticket proceeds to donate to a charity, animal hospital, or family in need. Spread holiday joy while also putting your passions to use!
Organize a Toy or Clothing Drive at Your Studio
A toy or clothing drive is a great and easy way to make sure everyone receives a present or two this holiday season. Ask your dance teacher or studio owner if you can set up a spot in the studio where people can drop off donations. Decorate it to make it look cute and festive to draw people’s attention.
Make Holiday Cards for Nursing Homes or Hospitals
If you are a crafty person, then this is perfect for you! Put your creative skills to use and write some cheerful cards to seniors or patients who might be feeling lonely or down this time of year. Even drawing them a simple picture can help to bring a smile to their face in a season that can be lonely. Who knows? You might even end up with a new pen pal.
Bake (or Buy!) Treats for First Responders
Take some time to bake! You could even turn it into a fun activity to do with friends. Make cookies, bread, or brownies, then drop them off at your local fire station or police department. They do so much for communities; they deserve to have something given to them as well.
Teach a Free Dance Class for Kids
Put your love and talent for dance to use and teach a fun holiday dance class! This is perfect for kids who might not be able to afford dance classes. Sharing your love of dance can inspire others and remind you why you started dancing in the first place.
