What isn’t there to love about fall? With temperate weather, cozy outdoor and indoor activities are both options. Plus, this season lines up with the start of a brand new season of dance! As you get back to class and studio and meet new and old teammates, you have so many opportunities to get to know and share experiences with other dancers. Let’s plan some icebreakers!

Corn Maze

This is such a fun activity that requires you to work together as a team and solve a problem. Corn and hay mazes are a great way to spend a night out of the studio with your team. Some places even have multiple different mazes with different levels, scarers, and extra activities. You could even split your team up into different groups to see who can make it out the fastest.

Pumpkin Carving Contest

A classic fall activity that everyone is sure to love. Pick a teammate’s house, bring some fall snacks, and set up a table. You just need pumpkins, sharpies, and some carving tools. Put Halloween music or a Halloween movie on in the background, and get carving! Once all the pumpkins are carved, line them all up and vote on your favorites to crown a winner!

Costume Contest

You can host this event inside or outside of the dance studio. Have everyone dress up in costumes as couples or individually. For an extra challenge, add a theme or make each person come up with a 30-second dance to match their look. Once everyone has shown off their Halloween style, vote for winners for best costume and best dance.

Bake a Pie Together

Who doesn’t love pie? Vote on a flavor, and bake something delicious as a team. If you have a large team or you’re feeling extra ambitious, bake multiple pies in different flavors such as pumpkin, apple, and blueberry. This is the perfect snack for after a long day at practice or the beginning of a bake sale!

Halloween Movie Night

Spooky movie nights are an essential way to celebrate fall! Watch classics like Casper, Halloweentown, or The Nightmare Before Christmas. You could turn the event into a big movie night with popcorn and candy. If you have the space, setting up a sheet as a screen to project outside can make this extra special.

Make a Spooky-Themed Dance

It wouldn’t be a dance team hangout without busting a move! Pick a Halloween song and use it as the inspiration for a few different dances. Choreograph actual combos or just come up with fun and easy TikTok dances, depending on how seriously you want to take it.
