Not everyone wants to spend Halloween watching horror movies, walking through haunted houses, or getting scared! If you’re more into the cute, cozy, and creative side of October, there are still SO many ways to celebrate the holiday without anything spooky. Whether you’re planning a girls’ night, a fun weekend with your family, or a relaxing night at home, Halloween is the perfect excuse to try new things  and make some fun memories. Think pumpkin everything, cute costumes, fall treats, themed movie nights, and activities that make you feel like you’re living inside your own little autumn movie.

Have a Halloween Baking Night

If you love a sweet treat (which most of us do), invite your friends over for a Halloween-themed baking night! You don’t have to be an expert baker to make something fun, and decorating is honestly the best part. You could make ghost-shaped sugar cookies, pumpkin cupcakes, Halloween brownies, or chocolate-covered pretzels decorated with orange and purple sprinkles. Set out frosting, candy eyes, sprinkles, and other toppings so everyone can decorate their own creations. Want to make it even more fun? Turn it into a little baking competition and have everyone create their own dessert design. You can vote on categories like cutest treat, most creative design, and best overall presentation. Don’t forget to take pictures of your creations before everyone eats them, you could even do a poll for voting on your Instagram story.

Have a Cozy Halloween Movie Marathon

You don’t need scary movies to have the perfect Halloween movie night. There are so many nostalgic, funny, and feel-good movies that fit the season without giving you nightmares. Make a list of everyone’s favorites, grab your coziest blankets, and set up a movie marathon in your living room. You could watch Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, or another family-friendly Halloween favorite. Create a snack station with popcorn, candy, hot chocolate, and seasonal treats. You could even make little movie tickets or let everyone vote on what to watch. For an extra cute touch, have everyone wear Halloween pajamas or their favorite cozy fall outfit!

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

A pumpkin patch is such a classic fall activity, and there is nothing spooky about it!. Spend an afternoon picking out pumpkins, taking pictures, browsing seasonal decorations, and enjoying the autumn aesthetic. Depending on the location, you might also find hayrides, corn mazes, cider, donuts, or other seasonal activities. You can make the trip even more fun by planning your outfits ahead of time and taking pictures with your friends. Think cozy sweaters, denim, boots, colorful scarves, or whatever makes you feel your best.

Decorate Pumpkins Without Carving Them

Pumpkin carving is fun, but it’s definitely not the only way to decorate a pumpkin. If you want something a little easier, try painting or decorating pumpkins instead! Grab some paint, markers, ribbons, rhinestones, or craft supplies and let everyone create their own design. You could paint smiley faces, flowers, stars, polka dots, or colorful patterns. If you’re feeling creative, try a themed pumpkin inspired by your favorite color, movie, hobby, or character. You could even create a set of pumpkins that look cute together as a group.

Halloween doesn’t have to be all haunted houses and scary movies to be memorable. Whether you’re baking cookies, painting pumpkins, having a cozy movie marathon, or planning a cute photoshoot, there are so many ways to celebrate the holiday in your own way.
