The year is only getting started, but I’m always keeping a close eye on what’s trending, and in February, even with fewer days, there were plenty of looks to love. These five February fashion trends are the ones I’ll be carrying forward into March.

Powerful Puffer Jackets

Being warm has never been so cute! Puffer jackets are iconic in street fashion, and I am definitely not mad about it. Bundled up and show off your style. The jacket does all of the talking.

A fashion-forward puffer coat is a great outer layer for your winter and spring looks, and I’m not the only one that thinks so. Vanity Fair said, “The puffer is cementing its place on the runway” (and in our own wardrobes!). It’s not all haute couture and runway looks, though. Fashion historian Andrew Luecke loves the puffer for its presence. He calls the puffer’s iconic shape and look “powerful.” Designers across the globe are releasing their own takes on the classic puffer design, so there’s a padded jacket for every style. I love to style my puffer with bold colors and prints, fitted jeans, and my favorite kicks. You can also throw it on over your dance clothes as a warm-up piece.

Chic Masks

Masks are a must for staying safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but the necessity is doubling as an accessory as people find new ways to make them fashionable and flow with their personal styles and unique outfits.

Stylish and protective, the mask fashion game has definitely elevated over the last year. Trending prints like cheetah and florals and fabrics like satin and velvet are finding their way into people’s mask collections. With so many options, why not match your mask to your outfit? (Just remember that mesh masks don’t protect you or those around you!)

Stunning Shades

Out in the sun? Going for an undercover model vibe?

Sunglasses are one of my favorite accessories to style because they are a fun, protective addition to any outfit, and they add such a vibe to any look! Eyewear trends are always changing, but they’re pretty much always fun. My favorite sunglasses this month are a classic. Retro oval frames complement sporty looks. Printed frames, bold shades, pops of color (like Billie’s iconic green Gucci shades!), grab your shades and slay the day!

going.”

Boot Up!

Even as we walk toward warmer weather, boots are perfect for any look.

A must-have footwear choice for pretty much every season, boots never go out of style. Over the past month, I’ve been rocking my boots with almost every outfit. Knee-high, ankle, combat, platform, or heeled booties, there are boots for every style. Plus, if you pick your pants and your boots together, you can create interesting and stylish silhouettes. Show off your cool boots with an open seam flare or pair cropped jeans with sock booties.

Velvet Vibes

One of my favorite trends, this list wouldn’t be complete without velvet! Like flowers in the spring and sunshine in the summer, velvet is a winter staple.

A luxurious fabric, velvet takes your look to the next level with its soft, shiny texture. Plus, there are so many options! Solid velvet, crushed velvet, embossed velvet, and even stretch velvet have found their way into so many pieces this season. Even Valentino and Chanel included this versatile fabric in their winter collections. I have been loving printed velvet on everything from blazers to body suits and even outfit sets! If you’re not feeling big velvet pieces, it’s great for accessories, too. Velvet scrunchies and bags are soft and subtle and add a little extra magic to your outfit.
