There’s something about Toy Story that never gets old. Maybe it’s the colorful characters, the nostalgic feeling, or the reminder that imagination can turn anything into an adventure. There is something to inspire every type of dancer to create something fun. Whatever it is, the movie is packed with inspiration for fun, creative crafts that are perfect for summer.
Make Your Own Character Bag Charms
One of the cutest trends right now is creating personalized bag charms, and Toy Story characters are perfect for it. Think mini cowboy hats inspired by Woody, little alien charms straight from Pizza Planet, cow-print beads for Jessie, or cloud-themed pieces that match Andy’s wallpaper. (We love what Kelli Erdmann Butler did with her Kate Spade bag for the Toy Story 5 premiere.)
The best part? No two charms have to look the same. You can mix colors, beads, ribbons, and trinkets to create something completely unique for your dance bag. Bonus, they’re a fun way to make your competition backpack stand out from everyone else’s (you could even make matching ones for your team).
Create a Friendship Bracelet Inspired by Your Favorite Character
Friendship bracelets are so back this summer (as usual), and Toy Story gives you endless color combinations to work with. A Woody-inspired bracelet could feature blue, yellow, and cow-print beads. Buzz Lightyear fans can use green, purple, and white. The aliens? Definitely lots of neon green.
For a fun activity, make bracelets with your teammates and see who can guess which character each one represents.
Decorate a Dance Journal
Every dancer needs a place to write goals, corrections, choreography notes, or even just fun memories from rehearsal that day. Grab a plain notebook and decorate it with Toy Story-inspired stickers, drawings, colorful markers, or printed photos. You can even create different sections inspired by different characters. It’s a simple craft that will actually be useful for the entire season.
Customize Your Water Bottle
Let’s be honest: dancers bring their water bottles everywhere (which is great). We might as well make it fun!
Use waterproof stickers, paint pens, or removable decals to create a Toy Story-inspired design. The clouds from Andy’s room are especially easy to recreate and instantly recognizable. Write your name in the Toy Story font! You’ll end up with something that’s unique and much easier to spot during rehearsal.
Creativity Never Goes Out of Style
One of the reasons Toy Story has stayed popular for so many years is because it celebrates creativity and imagination. These DIYs are a fun way to bring some of that energy into your own summer while taking a break from scrolling. And who knows? Your next favorite dance bag accessory might just be something you made yourself.
