On March 30, Deadline reported that a new musical is coming to Broadway this fall. Centered around the worldwide popularity of K-pop and its idols, KPOP will star real-life K-pop star Luna.

Summarized on KPOP‘s website, “As global superstars put everything on the line for a special one-night-only concert, one singer – played by K-pop and musical theater sensation Luna – faces an inner struggle that threatens to dismantle one of the hottest labels in K-pop. Pulsing with infectious beats, electrifying choreography, and breathtaking joy, KPOP  is an all-consuming multimedia experience that explores the relentless discipline, raw talent, and commercial ambition behind the heart-thumping international phenomenon.”

KPOP‘s star, Luna is known for being part of the group f(x) as well as her solo career and musical theater roles. She has appeared in the Korean productions of In the Heights, Mamma Mia, Legally Blonde (where she starred as Elle Woods), Coyote Ugly, and High School Musical on Stage!. KPOP will be her Broadway debut.

Complete casting has not been announced, but KPOP has already found its home. Previews for the musical begin Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Opening night is set for Sunday, November 20, 2022.
