Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Cassie Marin shared her new single, “Floating” over the weekend, and this summer pop track is a perfect balance of Cassie’s signature lyrical style with bubbly synth-pop beats. Cassie has an album quickly approaching, so we’re excited to see how “Floating” sets us up for the rest of the music she’s putting out this year.

Cassie shared that “‘Floating’ is all about coping with isolation and discovering beauty in the mundane. It embraces us when we find it difficult to relate to others, or when we feel like some alien creature that has fallen from the sky. It packs this celestial sense of liberation that, when I wrote it, got me out of questioning who I was and how I was supposed to feel about it. I was reminded that there is never anything wrong with being different. I hope to take my listeners to this place, into the freedom of the sky, floating, above all doubt and fear, embracing fully the present moment and all that we are.”

“Floating” reminds us of WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? era Billie Eilish as Cassie turns darkness into something sweet. “I’ve been floating by myself, and I know everybody else got something else too,” Cassie sings. These moves along with fast-paced pop lyrics and a danceable track are the successes of the musical experimentation Cassie is known for.

Cassie is anything but predictable, and as we get closer to her next album—due out this summer—we’re sure this songwriter will continue to find new ways to catch us off guard with her musical choices, bending genre expectations and turning everyday struggles and questions into powerful music.

“Floating” is streaming now on all major music platforms.
