Dance is a demanding sport that requires strength, flexibility, and a careful understanding of the way the body moves. This is universal for all dancers, but all dancers think of their movements differently. Countertechnique has created exercises and a class structure that approaches the body and movement head-on to help dancers move more fluidly by giving them a toolbox of techniques and understandings to apply to their movements. Developed by Anouk van Dijk over her fifteen-year career as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Countertechnique is a detailed theoretical system and a teaching method.
