Your dance bag goes everywhere with you. From dance class to conventions, it should have all your essentials so you are comfortable and can focus on dancing. While it is easy to remember the basics like water bottles and pointe shoes, there are some things that you might not have thought of. Do you have all of these items in your dance bag?
Hair accessories
Dancing throughout the day requires a lot of hair ties. You probably have a handful in your dance bag, but there are some other hair accessories that you should also have with you. Bobby pins, rubber bands, and extra hair ties are your allies when a hair tie snaps or your bun won’t stay in place. Travel-sized dry shampoo, hair spray, and hair gel are also great for hair emergency backup.
Deodorant
Sweating after dance class is normal. To make sure we are still smelling clean, buy deodorant to leave in your dance bag. Spray deodorant, stick deodorant, or deodorant wipes, it is all about what you are comfortable with and works best for you. Along with deodorant, you could keep some sweat wipes in your bag as well. Those are great for heavy dance practices. And you can never go wrong with carrying your favorite perfume as well that way you always have your signature scent!
First Aid Kit
It is not uncommon to need a band-aid here and there as a dancer. Maybe it’s from your pointe shoes rubbing on your feet or you fell while doing a trick. Either way, it is always a good idea to keep a first aid kit on hand. Because even if you don’t need it, maybe one of your teammates will. You can find small, easy-to-pack kits in the travel section of most stores. Going along with that, make sure to keep some pre-wrap and tape in your bag too. Again, better safe than sorry!
Bands & Rollers
Having sore muscles as a dancer is an everyday occurrence, so be prepared with mini foam rollers, muscle rollers, and a tennis ball. There are so many options depending on what feels best for you. Another thing to include is Therabands or resistance bands. These are great for stretching your feet and legs for the day.
