Rainy spring days might seem sad at first, especially if you were hoping to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. But honestly? Some of the best memories can be made when you are forced to slow down a bit. As dancers, we’re so used to constantly moving, rehearsing, competing, and planning what’s next that rainy days can actually become the perfect excuse to reconnect with yourself and recharge your creativity.

Create the Ultimate Rainy Day Dance Playlist

We all know the rainy day vibe. Those calm, cozy feelings can be made even more powerful with the right music! Make a playlist that lets you feel like the main character and calm. Play songs that make you want to get up and choreograph in your bedroom or watch the rain drip down the car window. This is the perfect time to focus on feeling the music and emotions, freestyle without any pressure, and create movements inspired by the slow weather.

Romanticize Your Stretch Session

A rainy spring afternoon + cozy clothes + a long stretch session = the perfect day.

Take this time to be intentional and turn your stretching session into a self-care routine. Start by lighting a candle, putting on calming music, and focusing on your breathing. It can be easy to forget that rest and recovery are just as important as training.

Have a “Reset” Day

Rainy days are perfect for resetting your life a little bit. You know those days where everything—your dance bag, your room, your head, your schedule—feels off? Try organizing your dance bag, making new playlists, washing your makeup brushes, and journaling your goals for the summer.

Film Cozy Content

Exercise a different creative muscle. Rainy weather automatically makes everything look and feel more aesthetic. Everything feels calmer and more cinematic. Some easy rainy-day content ideas: “day in my life” vlogs, GRWM for dance class, outfit inspiration for spring, and “Rainy rehearsal day” TikToks.

Watch Dance Performances for Inspiration

Rainy days are the best time to cozy up with a blanket, some snacks, and a movie. This means you can find some new ways to get inspired with dance. So put on a Broadway show, music videos, dance documentaries, and old competition routines. Focus on the facial expressions, the timing, the musicality, and the storytelling.
