Bonjour Summer!
One of my favorite (and oh so fabulous) reasons to be all dressed up glam this season is to experience a live performance! With summertime dance performances, theater shows, Broadway tours, Showstopper National Finals, and fun festivals around the world, there are many amazing ways to become inspired while celebrating dance and art.
I had the opportunity to attend The Beatles LOVE by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas! A night out at the theatre… enchanted by the magic of dance, acrobatics, actors, and athleticism ofthese one-of-a-kind artists. And what a showstopper! This show is a beautiful “multi-sensory journey through music, culture, history, & emotions of the most popular band of all time,” says Cirque Du Soleil.
What is Cirque Du Soleil?
Meaning “circus of the sun” Cirque Du Solei is an entertainment company founded in 1984 by former street performers Guy Laliberte and Gilles Ste-Croix. It is now the largest contemporary circus producer in the whole world!
Ready to be filled with inspiration Cirque Du Soleil style! Celebrating an exceptional legacy of The Beatles LOVE. This incredible show is directed and written by Dominic Champagne, and has been performed at the Mirage in Las Vegas for 18 years! The Beatles LOVE debuted its first performance in the year 2006 and has since “entertained more than 10 million guests,” according to Cirque de Soleil. With a Grammy-winning soundtrack of Beatles music, remixed and produced by Sir George Martin and Giles Martin (a father/son duo!), the sound is truly next level.
This spectacle pays tribute to the Beatles’ artistic achievements through expressive performance and art! The creativity of this whole production is unmatched. From the artists to the music to the stage sets and lighting designs, costumes, and crew…the level of inventiveness and imagination is off the charts. A dancer’s inspiration!
A Performance to Remember!
The show dancer’s unrivaled energy and the crowd’s great enthusiasm and respectful appreciation of the art being performed onstage combined to create a feeling of pure bliss. Visiting the show with my sisters, our favorite part of the performance was when “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” hit the grand speakers and filled the theatre in a sparkling rush. An aerialist glides through the sky creating beautiful balletic choreography above the audience in a mirrored bodysuit reflecting lights from every possible angle.
Fun Fact: This Cirque stage is 360 degrees! Meaning, there are seats at every perspective, all around the stage in a unique circular shape. The stars are sparkling in the theatre and the lights strobe in and out. Dazzling!
It takes a team effort! Every performance of LOVE features 68 showstopping artists on stage as well as 120 crew members creating just as much magic behind the scenes backstage! Cirque Du Soleil shares the details. “From a technical perspective, it takes 27 servers, 4 control computers, and 30 terabytes of storage to run the show.” WOW!
Performative art meets fashion!
Vibrant, full of color, and out of this world, the costumes in this show are absolutely spectacular. In line with the exciting instruments and vocals of the music, they match the colorful hues and texture of the set design.
Fun fact: There are over 330 costumes in this show! It is a visual masterpiece of fashion!
Outfit of the Night
I found inspiration for my outfit through LOVE! To be on theme and match all the magic of the night, I styled a pair of blush pink pants with a white rosette top and white leather platform heel! I accessorized by adding gold accents—drop-earrings and a metallic heart pendant necklace!
A Legacy. LOVE features energetic dancers, amazing acrobats, outstanding aerialists, animated actors, cool clowns, inline skaters, trampoline acts, and unmatched choreography. This production is sure to put a smile on your face! As I looked to my left and right, my family’s faces were lit up with awe! It was an unforgettable performance.
An End of an Era
The Beatles LOVE took its last bow on July 7, 2024 as The Mirage Casino prepares to close its doors July 17. This incredible show will leave a lasting impact of imagination and inspiration for me, my sisters, and I think, just about everyone, in the Mirage theatre giving a standing ovation!
Art has the ability to bring people together. And the overarching theme of this Beatles-inspired Cirque Du Soleil show is… LOVE! The legacy created by these artists of the World of Beatles LOVE, live on!
