Fall is the season of comfort food. These foods, heavy to fight off the cold and full of vegetables are also great for getting all the tradition you need to dance! Dancers need to maintain healthy eating habits to ensure they can keep doing what they love most. There are plenty of options for seasonal snacks that are perfect for a dancer who’s always on the move.

Apple Slices

Apples are one of the most perfect fall snacks! There are endless ways to make them more unique and create different snack options. Eat them with peanut butter, almond butter and granola, honey and oats, or for the ultimate fall feel, caramel.

Sweet Potato

This can be a controversial snack since people usually love or hate sweet potatoes. But, if you love them, sweet potatoes are high in potassium which helps ease muscle cramps. You can spice up your sweet potatoes by cooking them with marshmallows or dulce de leche and mix them with feta cheese and quinoa. Quinoa is a protein, the perfect pairing for sweet potato’s potassium.

Wraps

Wraps are a great and easy way to sneak protein and veggies into your diet. Plus, they’re easy to eat on the go! The base of a wrap is protein. Ham, bacon, turkey, or chicken, are great options to pair with cheeses like feta, American, or mozzarella. Tie the meal together with vegetables. Lettuce is a staple, but you can add avocado, tomatoes, and carrots, too. Top it all off with a condiment or dressing.

Veggies with Hummus

This is peak simple snacking. Throw veggies and hummus into your lunch bag and you’re ready to snack later in the day. Vegetables are high in vitamins and antioxidants, and you can mix and match your favorites. Hummus is a plant-based protein that is light on your stomach and provides fiber as well. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even make your own pumpkin hummus for fall.

Smoothies

If you’re really on the go, opting for a smoothie is a great energy boost. Like wraps, smoothies are also good for sneaking in extra veggies and fruits, too. Pair fruits and vegetables you love with seeds or oats and a milk (dairy or plant) base. Blend it up, throw everything in a cup, and get started with the next part of your day. Apple, pumpkin, and carrot are great fall-flavors for smoothies!
