The film was the talk of awards season, but Barbie was not the sweeping winner many expected. The film did, however, win several major awards including two Golden Globes, one Oscar, three Grammy Awards, six Critics’ Choise Awards, and six People’s Choice Awards.
Leading Actress BAFTA
Emma Stone, Poor Things
Emma Stone claimed the second Best Actress BAFTA of her career (She won her first in 2017 for her role in La La Land.) for her role as Bella in the twisted Frankenstein-esque Poor Things. She followed this with a Best Actress Award at the 2024 Oscars. Clearly, Emma was not a poor thing this awards season!
Album of the Year Grammy Award
Taylor Swift, Midnights
This is excitement (Taylor’s Version)! After releasing her first two re-recored albums, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylors’ Version), Taylor released her concept album Midnights which rocked the world with hits like “Anti-Hero” and “Karma.” It’s no wonder the album broke 73 records including the first artist to hold the top 10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100.

Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, “What Was I Made For?”
While the Barbie soundtrack was full of hits that we still have on repeat, two competed for our hearts and the awards shows this year. Despite a valiant fighting effort from Ken, Billie Eilish won out at the Oscars. The emotional “What Was I Made For?” was a clear winner for this prestigious award.
