If you are trying to stay dance-ready over the summer, doing the same workout routine can get boring. You don’t want to get stuck in a routine that saps your motivation to work out or dance. Keeping exercise in your day-to-day over summer break is important for maintaining the skills and strength you build in dance class, but you also want to enjoy your time ofF! So, switch it up! Try some new activities this summer to stay active.

Go for a Walk

This is a classic option that has so many benefits for your body and mind. There is a reason they are called Hot Girl walks! Walking every day can leave you feeling refreshed, stronger, and having a clearer mindset. You can put on some nice music and go for a walk around your neighborhood, or if you would rather have company, you could take your dog, sibling, or friend.

Go for a Bike Ride

Bike rides are a perfect summer activity that also doubles as a workout. Ride bikes with friends and see how far you can go! Whether you’re biking solo or with friends, giving yourself a place to bike to can turn this activity into a small adventure. Bike to a park and bring snacks to have a little picnic as a reward and break!

Swim Laps

Summertime means enjoying the pools and the beach, so if you know you’ll have access to a pool this summer then this could be a good option for you. You can give yourself a certain goal and just keep going till you reach it. Cardio in the sunshine!

Play Basketball

If you want an activity that feels less like working out and prioritizes fun, sports are a great option. Why not try out basketball? You can play with your family or friends. Play a pickup game or practice your shooting. Before you know it, you’ll be running all over the court and getting your steps in.

Hit the Beach

The beach hardly feels like exercise when you’re enjoying the sun! If you’re not feeling the waves, you can also play beach games like frisbee, football, or volleyball! For volleyball, play at the beach or on a court. It’s summer. Everything is better outdoors!

Run at Sunset

Running isn’t a good option for everyone (take care of your joints!), but if you do want to add running or jogging to your summer routine, sunset jogs are a great way to make your exercise a little more scenic. Run with a view! Plus, evening runs before the sun goes down are cooler and more comfortable.

Whatever your summer routine is, taking care of your body by staying in shape and knowing when to relax is important. Stay in shape for dance, but don’t over do it, and don’t forget that summer vacation is a break from your usual routine!
