Tell us about your dance experience!

Hi, my name is Alessandra Gonzalez and I am 10 years old. I have been dancing literally since I was in my mommy’s belly. See, my mom owns the dance studio I dance at, so my training started almost immediately. At first, I wasn’t very dedicated, and I didn’t like to train at all. My mom added me to her Babeez competition team when I was 3 years old and that’s where I learned a valuable lesson.

My mom always had me in the back till one day I asked her, “Mommy why don’t I ever get to be in the front or why don’t I get solo parts?” When she explained to me that just because I was her daughter didn’t mean I didn’t have to train just as hard or harder than everyone else, something in my little head said I would start to work harder and longer than anyone at my studio. Today I’m on our mini elite team where I have won multiple titles with my team and as a soloist. This is my seventh competition season, and I never get tired of working hard and learning new skills.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance definitely has a positive impact in multiple areas of my life. Dance helps me keep a healthy lifestyle so that I’m in the best shape when I’m on the dance floor. It also helps me stay focused with my grades in school so that I am always able to participate in anything related to dance.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I would love to use dance to help our special needs children in our community come out and express their feelings through dance.
