Tell us about your dance experience!

I have only been on the competition team for three years, but I have been dancing since I was 3. Dance gives me an outlet to let my creative mind flow.

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

The coaches, teachers, and dance studio I’m part of have profoundly influenced my life through dance. Their teachings resonate with me daily. Dance grants me a sense of freedom. While school often pressures me to strive for perfection and fit in, dancing offers a sanctuary. It allows me to be authentic, alleviates my anxiety through movement, and lets me escape into the dance, where nothing else matters.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive impact on your community?

I aspire to leverage my dance background to inspire numerous children. My experience is dual-fold: I dance alongside incredible teammates and also use dance as a means to connect with my cultural roots and ancestors. I cherish these diverse dance opportunities in my life, whether it’s competing for a trophy or deepening my cultural ties. Dancing is a constant in my life, and I aim to demonstrate to others the multifaceted ways dance can enrich one’s journey.
