Happy Showstopper Day, dancers!

Toss some confetti to the sky and party all day in pink. It’s National Showstopper Day! April 21 is a day for a celebration of Showstopper in the name of dance and community with all things pink and glittery.

As America’s very first dance competition, established in 1978, Showstopper is the longest-running dance competition and one of the most prestigious and fabulous events held every season. Throughout the United States and internationally, Showstopper hosts an incredible tour (more than 50 events!) each year, providing an amazing stage for dancers at regionals, The Finals, and even Showstopper Dance Conventions.

Showstopper Day is an extra special event this year as Showstopper celebrates its 45th Anniversary of dance, competition, and talent. Four and a half decades of Showstopper magic! (We’re totally 🤩)

“Let’s be extraordinary! Let’s do things we’ve only dreamed of. Let’s dance as we have never danced. Let’s create as we have never created. Push yourself to go to that next level and embrace any challenges that come your way.”

Debbie Roberts, Founder of Showstopper

The Showstopper stage is a dance floor I have grown up dancing on with my family and with so many new friends made along the way. This is true for so many Showstopper dancers. The mention of Showstopper brings a smile to my face and holds a special place in my heart. What is your favorite Showstopper dance memory?

Showstopping Looks

These styles will make you feel like a Showstopper! In honor of Showstopper Day, we’re stying pink, a shade Vogue UK calls “The most joyous color of the season.” The color that trends 365 days a year, pink is for everyone! Forbes is on it, too. “Barbiecore is here to stay, and the alluring bubblegum shade simply makes the world a happier place.” Inviting some pink into your wardrobe is fun. The color pink radiates a sense of cheer. Bright, bold, powerful, and sweet, pink prevails!

Whether you’re werking it in the dance studio or strutting around town, there are so many ways to style this extraordinary shade. Pink can work in an outfit as a glow of color, style base, or the main center-stage color. Pink-colored accessories or shoes work, too. Style the fashion you love! (And style it in pink!)

Monochromatic Pink

Let’s get this party started for Showstopper Day! I styled a festive look with my pink velvet Royal CoutureXShowstopper leotard (an iconic staple in my dancewear closet) paired with some fierce bubblegum pants. A monochromatic moment in pink, this outfit just makes me want to dance. Strike a pose and sparkle! This look is complete with a braid for a little extra flair.

“Every new day is another reason to celebrate!”

Pop of Pink

How about a pop of pink? Pink has a wide range from baby pink and magenta to full-out fuchsia, so there are numerous lovely shades of pink to select from. This look features a color-block top and white denim pants complete with a sparkling pink hair accessory. Happy days!

Party Pink

It’s a holiday! Let’s wear a party dress in pink. For this outfit, I’m wearing a pink layered dress with ruffle and bow details! I added in cute pink mule heels perfect for the occasion and ready for twirling. Balancing it all out with sparkling jewelry and red lipstick in the same shade I always wear when I take the Showstopper stage, this look is complete!

“Life is a Party, dress like it.”

Audrey Hepburn

Being a Showstopper is all about being your fabulous self! In honor of Showstopper Day, dance it out, turn on a terrific tune, re-watch your favorite Showstopper stage performance moments, check out the Showstopper app, flip through Showstopper Magazine, reflect on lovely Showstopper memories, and of course, style a fashionable fit in pink! You go, Showstopper!

“Get ready to celebrate the unconditional love for movement in music and the unbridled joy in elevating the performance of dance that is…Showstopper Day.”
