Hello, Summer 2020!

Dancers, after two years of “Studio to Street,” you know it’s time for even more summer leotard looks.

Each season brings new trends that inspire and influence the world of fashion, and the summertime fashion styles are definitely
some of my favorites each year! I love getting creative with the current trends that are in and mixing them up with my dancewear. The art of styling an outfit is a whole vibe. It is fun to be innovative with your closet and try new things all while keeping it unique and, the best part, making it your own! Besides, wearing your favorite leotards and activewear outside of the studio creates a seamless transition from the studio to the street!

Sporty Chic

Hi, Sporty Chic, what’s good? Bringing your activewear out of the gym and into your everyday wardrobe has never been more in style. This look screams fierce, sporty, and summer!

Black lycra biker shorts are a staple in my closet. They pair with so many outfits and especially slay with my new black velvet Royal Couture leotard. To create this look, I accessorized my outfit with a cute black mini purse, white sneakers, and my black square sunnies. All of these accessories match just about every outfit under the summer sun! I also added drop-hoop cheetah earrings as a statement piece to contribute some patterned tones to this look based around one color! Finish off the look with a claw clip, giving a little twisted updo. This 90s hairstyle is definitely making a comeback as my go-to summer style. It adds just enough sophistication to any look to dress it up a bit.

Let’s get active this summer. Grab your shades and workout fashionably!

Matching Sets

Matching two-piece outfits and sets are a major trend this summer! Don’t feel confined by pre-styled looks. You can mix and match the tops or the bottoms with other outfits! Or you can just wear them together. Whether you have a top and pants combination, a top and a skirt, or even a top and shorts, the looks you can create if you have a matching set in your closet seem almost endless!

I paired my plaid green set with my dip-dyed ombre aqua leotard. Pay attention to where you can combine textures and patterns. The unique feel of the velvet adds texture to the outfit and pulls in the coherence of the look! And plaid is a pattern that work well in all kinds of fun colors. Don’t you love how balanced and polished a two-piece set looks when you wear it together? I tied it all together with matching velvet scrunchies and my favorite gold jewelry, but I think my favorite part of this look is my pup Bravo!

Group Looks

If you’re like me, you probably can’t stop thinking of cute outfits. Endless summer dreaming, right? As much as I love styling my outfits, I enjoy styling and creating outfit looks for other people, too, especially my family and, in this case, my sisters! Who says you can’t put your fashion knowledge to work outside your own closet?

– Yves Saint Laurent

I started with our favorite velvet leotards. We pirouetted and leaped into them at the studio, and when we left, they became high fashion bodysuits! Once we hung up the tutus, I added floral skirts that complement the bright colors of the velvet. We added beach waves to our hair, a glossy lip to reflect the sunshine, and our favorite shades of nail polish for a pop of color! We accessorized our outfits with cute butterfly clips that match the colors in the leotards, gold jewelry, and, to tie it all together, classic white sneakers. (The bold contrast of the skirts with sneakers look is a trend I will love forever!)

“Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It’s something reflected from our soul to the outside world—an emotion.”
– Alber Elbaz
